Raul Alejandro Ruiz Ocasio Ruiz born on 10 January 1993 is a Puerto Rican singer/songwriter. He has been called the "King of Modern Reggaeton".[2][3] He belongs to the "new generation" of Puerto Rican musicians. The debut studio album, Afrodisiaco, was released in November of 2020. Vice Versa was his follow-up studio album. The lead single, "Todo de Ti" was released in June 2021. From 12 nominations, the singer has received two Latin Grammy Awards. Raul Alejandro Ruiz the Latin Grammy Award winner, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the 10th of January 1993. He also grew up in Canovanas and Carolina. [4][5] His father, guitarist Raul Ocasio, as well as his mother who was the backing vocalist Maria Nelly Ruiz, introduced to some of his musical influences like Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Chris Brown. In the past, for a long time, Alejandro and his father lived in the continental United States, mainly Miami and New York City, where they were influenced by the R&B and dancehall genres. Alejandro and Anuel A.A., a colleague of Puerto Rican rapper are childhood friendships. They went to the same school together and attended classes together. In the early years of their lives, Alejandro competed in school talent shows as he had a passion for dancing. After finishing high school, Alejandro began his studies at the University of Puerto Rico. He was a soccer player between six to twenty. He eventually resigned because he was unable to perform as expected. He moved to Orlando, Florida to attempt to be scouted for a spot in the Premier Development League (PDL) but was ultimately not successful. Rauw Alejandro's musical style is Latin R&B and reggaeton. He also likes rhythmic pop and ballads. Billboard said that this has made him distinguish himself from a increasing number of pop-oriented reggaetoneros. [23] He was influenced early on by Presley and Jackson as well as later on by Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee, as well as Chris Brown. He also mentions Ciara as a musical inspiration.
